In the past couple of months or so we've started having intermittent missing license problems (error code "-197") with 3ds Max. This happens on 2 different PCs here a couple of times a week. The solution is always to restart the VRLService. Both PCs use hardware dongles. This problem cropped up only recently, probably about a couple of months ago or somewhere in that range. What could be causing this?

Hello,
Can you please tell us what is the exact V-Ray and Chaos License server version that you are using? What is the WibuKey Runtime driver version that you are using? Please install the following Chaos License server version:

Hi Nikolay,
Vray version is 4.20.00.00003. WibuKey driver version is 6.51 (build 3477). Our Chaos License server is actually more recent than the one you suggest, it's version 5.2.2. Should we install the older one anyway?Max 2023.2.2 + Vray 6 Update 2.1 ( 6.20.06 )

Hi Alex,
Can you write us at support@chaosgroup.com about this (you can reference this topic)? This kind of error might be related to dongles malfunctioning, or problem setup or something else, it'll be best if we can look into the setup you have.Ivan Slavchev
