  • error: could not obtain license (-7) - wish I knew sooner

    Hello,
I'm traveling and set up an old machine with 3ds Max and V-Ray. I know it's New Year's Day in some parts of the world.

I've loaded V-Ray and the license server but getting the " error: could not obtain license (-7)."

I've got the V-Ray Collection subscription and on a HP.

    Any help is appreciated.

Still having issues and have a deadline. I sent another request through the help desk and trying to get to work. I'm dead in the water now. I didn't realize moving to a different machine was going to be a big headache.

thank you and happy new year!

Update: Struggling, would it work to download a trial to get going today?

Any help is appreciated to get my license working on this machine.

Could you please do the following in order to clean and re-install the V-Ray Online license server to the latest version 5.5.1 :

      1. Please close the Services window in your OS(if it is opened) and uninstall the V-Ray Online license server from your Start menu>Control Panel> Add remove programs
      2. Make sure to delete the folder C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\VRLService
      3. Go to the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup" and delete all files and folders except "vrlclient.xml", which is needed.
Please download and install the latest V-Ray Online license server 5.5.1 from our web site:
      https://download.chaosgroup.com/?platform=47&product=48

After the installation is completed, please check if the V-Ray Online license server status page "127.0.0.1:30304" is available and you are able to click "Online licensing" >Sign In and enter your credentials.
Also, make sure that V-Ray client license settings are pointing to your "localhost" machine.
If any issue appears, please send us a screenshot of it.
Note: I answered the 2 tickets you opened as well, so I suggest you reply to one of them.
Let me know if the above suggestion helped you.
