  • URGENT! -200 GUI License Error, license show fine in license server

    Max 2024, Vray 6 2, Win 10.
I'm getting the -200 "cannot reach lic server" error, so the Vray GUI inside Max is blank. Everything fine yesterday, no changes on my end but I do think Windows may have auto-updated overnight.
I have now reinstalled the license server, updated Vray to 6 2.1, still no change. The license sever shows all of my licenses ready to go & unused, there's just no Vray GUI inside Max, so Vray cannot be used.
Really need to render today, pls help.

asundaysmonday and I are at the same studio, but we are having the exact same issue today, but ours is Vray for Maya. No problems yesterday, no changes made, and today, no one can reach server. That includes both render licenses AND gui licenses. I thought license had run out but we still have a month.
chris_moran in the meantime, I installed the license server on every single persons machine and changed their license to point to local (127.0.0.1:30304), just so they could at least render in Maya, but farm rendering has to go to the cloud. Although I could probably install it on all render nodes as well, but sheesh!

Keep us updated if you figure out what it is. I am still looking. I thought it was us, but maybe not.

Some, but not all windows machines had updated over night, and server didn't, so fairly sure that counts that out. Have you rebooted your license server? I can't reboot ours as every application will go down.

What's weird is that my lic server already points to local (127.0.0.1:30304) & still the Vray gui does not show in Max. Windows 10 did install some updates last night & I rolled those back & still no Vray gui. My machine has always had a dongle & when I upgraded to Vray 6 from 3.x both dongle & online activation show green but inside Max, no gui.

I have also temporarily disabled Win firewall & my Eest suite as this has in the past coused some issues. Still not working.

        Chaos support where art thou...

Same thing for me. If you borrow the license it will work though - that's how I got back up.
          www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

What's the right process for borrowing the license if I may ask?

Same thing for me, same versions, I actually restarted, and updated windows, hoping this may fix it. - so I had not updatet win before.
Borrowed license worked for me too

Looks like ours is back... but might be limited to our environment. The guys at stormfx said log out and log in using the email address instead of the username, and that strangely seems to have worked in this instance !?!

Same problem here since yesterday morning. I've raised a ticket with Chaos and had an initial response (after 17 hours), but nothing to resolve it. Other than borrowing a license (which I haven't looked into yet), has anyone managed to sort it out properly?

Just tried this - signing out and then back in again using my email - and it worked, I'm back up and running. Cheers!
