Can't use Chaos Scatter. Asks for a license?

Hi,

We have purchased two workstations and one render node license for V-Ray 7 for 3ds Max. I've just tried to use Chaos Scatter, and whenever I click on any of the rollouts, their titles change to "License Required," and it won't let me use it. My colleague has the same problem on his PC. Please check the screenshot below. Rebooting the PC didn't help. We had no trouble using it with V-Ray 6. Is Chaos Scatter a paid add-on now?

Chaos Scatter license is included in the Premium subscription. It will be best to submit a support ticket using the link in my signature.

Hi, kostadin.botev . I already submitted a support ticket before you replied in this thread. The ticket number is 316256. We have purchased permanent licenses. The same ones that we had purchased for V-Ray 6 where Chaos Scatter worked fine. Are you saying that there is no longer Chaos Scatter for permanent license holders? We have older scenes that we have to revise for a client, which were made with the previous version of V-Ray where Chaos Scatter worked fine, and now we can't render them because of this. So it's kind of an urgent matter.

I am not a sales representative and I can't answer what if anything has been changed regarding the included licenses in each subscription or in any of the upgrade. You will get more information from the relevant support team in the ticket.

I have this same issue too & on solo, not great if scatter has been removed and we cant load old projects in 7

It is not removed. You are looking for it in the "VRay" category of the Command Panel. However, it's in the "Chaos Scatter" category (at the bottom of the list).

Yes thanks Aleksandar, Yes my fault I was looking in the wrong place, I re-installed 7 and all appears to be okay now and I have not changed a single thing, which is rather odd but at least it is working now?

Before the re-install it was acting like scatter was not installed and loading?

Hm... That's odd. I didn't even reinstall mine and when I tried to edit a Chaos Scatter object again just now, it no longer says that a license is missing. Really bizarre. Seems like things went downhill with the introduction of the online licenses. They seems to create constant problems for us and there is barely any upside to them (at least I can't think of any). It was much MUCH better when licenses were offline on hardware dongles. If I can make an appeal to Chaos, I would like to ask them to bring back the option for users to choose whether they want to have online or offline license on a hardware dongle. I am frankly tired of constantly dealing with licensing issues like these.

Yeah its like someone has just realised and turned it on like magic...... Shame I wasted half a day trying to get it working.... But glad yours is now working too...
