  • Getting houdini particles into Max via Phoenix PRT

Hey, adding to another post earlier...
I´m also trying to get houdini particles into 3ds max.
Of course I could just use alembic with particle as mesh, but same issue here as with OpenVDB: large cache files over crappy internet is not making me happy...

    Sooo, I found this post:
    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...-proxies/page3
Right at the end I think it says that I could do what I want, but just to make sure:

    1. I want the PRT sequence from houdini without mesh info, just pos/rot/scale in Max and then use Pflow shape instance to pick a group of meshes to be randomly chosen for each particle.
    2. So I just use the PRT loader from phoenix to load the sequence...and now what? Can I somehow plug the info from the PRT reader into Pflow?
Or do I just use the Vrayinstancer? In this particular case I could just add the group of meshes as source objects and use random distribution, since the shape doesn´t matter....

    Hey,

Just plug the PRT Reader in the VRayInstancer - the PRT Reader provides a standard 3ds max particle system you can read from into any plugin, but I'm not sure there is anywhere in pflow you can plug that.

    Cheers!
