  • Changing RGB Values of Fire Sim Using the Channel Box in Maya?

    Hey, folks!

So, I know this is probably a SUPER basic question, but I noticed that the particle shader for ink in water sims allows you to change the RGB values of the particles in the channel box, so I was wondering if there's some equivalent for fire sims? Like, say I have 5 spheres and put a default fire sim on all 5 of them. If I wanted each one to be a different color, how would I go about doing that, since I can't seem to find a pyro shader?

Thank you for your time and I apologize again about the basicness of the question!

    Hey there,
first of all, please excuse me for giving you a link to the documentation instead of providing you with a straight answer.

We already have a fairly in-depth page on working with Smoke color and all the different ways you can affect it. The guide starts with the very basics and the setups get more complex the further down you go. Hopefully you'll find everything you need there:

If there's anything unclear or you need help setting things up, please ping us so we can help out.

    All the best!

Hello there and thanks for sending that link over!!

Yeah, I've actually already seen that guide before and used it to play around with the color of smoke sims, really appreciate how it breaks everything down so clearly!

However, I'm more interested in manipulating the color of the actual flame than I am the smoke. Since the default color of the flame is orange, I was wondering if there's any way to turn it green, blue, or some other color within Maya? I know I can just go into After Effects afterwards to change the RGB values of a layer, but since I have several different flames so tightly packed together, it'd be much easier for me if I could just do so within Maya itself.

Thanks again for your time, I really appreciate your help!
