  • Reversing an animation of smoke, but believable...?

    Hello,
I'm doing some free-styele tests to experience phoenix FD.

I have an animation of smoke (solid object dissolving), and now I would have it the opposite direction
It means, the same just reversed.
(Only using BodyForce is not the same, as it does not reconstruct the UV-texture)
I tried to reverse the animation in aftereffects, but this looks a bit strange: Of course the smoke has a dynamic behaviour, which is different when playing forward or reverse.
    Any ideas on this?
Maybe with resimulation? Or does it need something more advanced with particles?

    Many thanks

    Hey,

Can you show us the result you are getting and explain in a bit more detail what you would like to change to get the result you're after?

    Thank you!

      Hello,
yes, you can find the movie file now here:

The simulation was reversed, and you can see it from the smoke behaviour...
      Thanks for looking

Great - but how do you want it to look like? Do you have any reference?

          Maybe something similar to this
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo

but I would like to get at the end a completely solid object, which is only possible at start.
This means the end has to be the beginning.

What is unwanted revealing that it plays backwards is the swirl direction.
They always go in nature from inside to outside.
The only possible way would be to have something dissolving without swirl, then reversing and and maybe adding swirl (if that is possible) without destroying the basic simulation.

          What do you think?

You can lower or disable the vorticity and add a weak Drag force - this will reduce the swirls, though in my opinion if you go for a reverse effect it will look better with the swirls.
