  • Affect Liquid

    Hi
when sim'ing a liquid and foam/splash with "affect liquid" on, what happens when i want to re-sim only my foam/splash again?
because as far as i can tell , the " affect liquid" would have got rid of some of the liquid, how does this then affect the generation of new foam/splash particles in a re-sim?

i wondering because i do like the results that the "affect liquid" option gives, but it goes against normal SIM LIQUID then SIM SPLASH/FOAM workflow thats normally used in Houdini

    Thanks

Yup, if you try it, Phoenix will show you a warning message saying that it's gonna be ignored

      Hey Svetlin
i understand i get the warning, and kinda know that the liquid and foam/splash change "states"......but if there is "missing liquid" (its turned to foam/splash) , how does the resim know where the emission of the foam/splash is ?

what im basically asking is, are the emission points for foam/splash generation the same in a RESIM as they were when sim'd first time?
      thanks

Ah, yes - they are *roughly* the same, but not absolutely identical. With Affect Liquid and resimulation, the liquid is not going to be reduced when creating splashes and is not going to be increase when splashes merge back in, so this could probably add up over time and in extreme cases you could end up with visibly different sims.

This is just in theory though, do you have a specific setup, or just figuring how to go about it?

No, I'm just figuring out whst would happen Svetlin. I couldn't understand how the liquid sim would be the same. You've confirmed that it isn't which is good to know.
I guess it also depends on what my affect liquid value is set to aswell.
          Thanks for the info Svetlin

          Cheers
