  • Surface Texture in Maya

    Hey guys,

I just saw the tutorial for max because I want to generate a sponge like surface.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lznYojEZok

I tried to rebuild it in maya, but it doesn´t work.

    Is there any solution?

    What I did:

    - Created a -PhoenixFD source.
    - Under Rendering Surface Channel to Texture
    - Added a 3d Noise Tex. and tweeked the size of the tex.
    - Under preview, enabled "Show Mesh"

    ?!?!

    Regards Tom

    Hey Tom,

Can you send over the scene you got or at least a shot of how it looks now?

    Cheers!

Hey, just switched the Render Mode to Isosurface, set the renderer to V-Ray and rendered and it showed up. No luck with Mesh mode though, which would also allow the map to be shown in the viewport. Will check it now.... Thanks for reporting this!

Hey, thank you for feedback. Isosurface doesn´t work for me, because I need geometry to boolean and intersect with other geo. That was the idea to convert the volume as mesh.
But anyway, I guess that I have to wait until it is fixed, and try to sculpt i tnow in zbrush.

          Regards Tom

Hey, yes, you better work around it for now - I will be on it and hope to finish it in a few days, but it has to be implemented for both the viewport, for Maya Mesh rendering and for the V-Ray rendering modes, so it will not be ready too quickly...

... and just got it working for the V-Ray render and in Maya Mesh mode too - now gotta clean it up and make it use all CPU cores:
