  • How to create a burning house?

    Hi everybody,

I want to create a burning house just like in the following picture but with fire coming out of multiple windows and on different levels.

I am not quite sure about the best approach so maybe you all have some tipps for me.
My first try was to create burning objects in the appartements and a light wind pushing the flames and smoke out. I let them simulate in one single grid, but as you can imagine the simulation grid got really really big and I have enormous render times rn.
So maybe there's a more clever way to realize this. I thought about simulating the effect for one window, setting it to loop and just set a different start frame for each window. But I am not sure if the overall smoke cloud would look nice in this.

    How would you apporach this?

    Looking forward to your ideas

    Thanks,
    Joe

When creating the house fire scene for Simple Favor, I ended up doing a whole bunch of different sims so I could pump more detail into each area, plus have better control for different fires inside/outside the house. I did each window separately and emitted fire from particles tucked just inside each window so I could have the velocity taken from the particle vector so the fire would eject from the windows. For some windows I simmed fire/smoke together. For others I simmed the smoke from a presimmed fire cache.
