  • PhoenixFD 5.20.00 | Deadline 10.3 | 3ds Max 2020.2 - Network Rendering

For rendering PhoenixFD caches on worker nodes, what version of PhoenixFD must be installed to the worker?

I understand a PhoenixFD Simulation license is needed if you want to offload simulation calculations to workers on a render farm, but what about just rendering PhoenixFD caches?

TyFlow has a special build that comes bundled with TyFlow called TyFlow Render that basically has the components necessary to read and render TyFlow objects without a TyFlow Pro license installed.

What is the corollary for PhoenixFD?

I think this is the answer - you do not need to license a computer that is just rendering PhoenixFD objects, but you do need to install PhoenixFD to that machine.
However, if you want to offload simulation work to other machines through a distributed rendering environment via Deadline, for example, those machines need to have a Simulation license installed.

Indeed, and also it would be best to use the exact same Phoenix version on all machines so there are no unexpected issues.

        Cheers!
