  • UVW Channel

I can't seem to find what the UVW channel is actually used for? Is it possible to use this channel to have a procedural 2d/3d texture move WITH a simulation like Fume's Fluid Mapping?

it is used as the usual uvw coordinates in the meshes, when the texture has explicit mapping selected. beside this you can use the uvw channel directly as rgb values (see the multicolor scene)

I have noticed that you need to have the effects channel selected as "Texture" for this to work correctly at all. For example, if I want to use the cached UVW coords for a wispy texture in my transparency, but I also want to displace using a world space noise based on the smoke channel, this doesn't work. Is this working as intended?
