  • Phoenix FD 1.2 available for download

    Hello,

Phoenix FD 1.2 is now available for download from our site. This version also includes builds compatible with V-Ray 2.0. The major addition is of course, the liquid extension - check out the images and animations in the Images section of the forum.

    Phoenix FD 1.2 (November 26 2010)
    =====================================

    New features:
    (*) Extension for liquid simulations
    (*) Turbulence helper
    (*) Forward transfer advection
    (*) Randomization
    (*) Analytic scattering mode

    Modified features:
(*) Added ramps and ranges in the viewport
(*) Ability to use the radius of the PF particles in the source helper
(*) Color ramp and preview range for each channel
(*) RGB preview of the UVW channel
(*) Limits for the adaptive grid
(*) Optimized the interaction with the scene
(*) Option to displace without surface projection, using directly the 3d point coordinates (volumetric displacement).

    Bugs fixed:
(*) Problem with the solid sources when the temperature channel is not active
(*) Crash when a body exits from an adaptive grid
(*) The fluid can pass through a thin object
(*) When Phoenix FD is installed the CAT can't add fingers
(*) The vorticity does not affect certain areas in the simulation, especially the leading front of the flow.
(*) The GPU preview continues to update even when the window is invisible (performance bug).
(*) Crash when displacement is used in solid mode and the surface crosses the upper boundary
(*) Phoenix texture does not sample UVW and velocity channels if the node is not rendered
(*) The rendering hangs when the cell size is too small

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Great! Hour ago we just installed 1.1 to all our machines.

Could you give any info of the turbulence helper?

So now you guys need to create some milk
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

I just have to get all "real" work done, so I can spend whole evening to play with liquids.

you have a fractal map, similar to the usual max noise, and using this map you can affect the sim with force or injection. there is one more new feature similar to this one - the randomizator. it is included in the core and is faster and simpler.

Cool new features and thank you for VRay 2.0 support!
For all those that have the same problems installing the new Phoenix FD: the installer didn't recognize the 3D Studio Max folder and put Phoenix FD into the users/documents folder... I installed 3 times until I found this little bug. Before that, I wondered why Phoenix FD installed "correctly" but didn't show up in 3D Studio Max... ^^

Sorry for that late reply... I don't check this site very often.
                It was the latest release.
