Animating a ship on the ocean

yeah I thought I could hack it together but it seems there are too many obstacles. Looking forward to what you can come up with as a solution.

I had some luck with the mapper and it produced a decent result with some large waves, just not quite large enough. I have also had a decent result using the displace spacewarp with a large noise to great a giant undulating surface. Neither of them are a solution in themselves but when combined theoretically they should work, unfortunately the surface becomes unpredictable and produces very poor results.
