Yeah, I just noticed that I couldn´t see the particle count in the Main tab, because the name of the particles was too long.
So now I can definitely confirm that there are NOT 100 mill particles in my sim...
It also confirms that grid resolution is influencing the particle count: At ca. 1 mill cells I get particle counts up to 50.000, at 2 mill cells I only get 7-8.000.
    Is this normal behaviour?
Like I mentioned earlier: If I decrease the grid resolution I am seeing artefacts in the simulated particles, so how can I increase the grid resolution without "loosing" so many particles..?

enable "use particle size" option, this must produce particles in region that is defined by the source particle size.

In the nightly build I can only see an option in the PHX Source that says: "PRT Shape" where I can choose between "one cell, sphere", "Use Size, Sphere" and "Use Shape". When I ticked "use shape" I had to drastically lower the particle birth rate...and now I am seeing a lot more going on.
So what does the default value "once cell, sphere" actually mean and when would I need this?

Using the shape treats the exact particle shape from pflow (sphere, cube, instanced complicated geometry, etc) as an obstacle for the simulation - it will produce velocity just by moving around the container and will be very slow to calculate in case you have many particles. This is a new option in the nightiy builds, before that the particles were treated only as spheres. "Use particle size" became "Use size, Sphere".

Ok, thanks for explaining! I still don´t understand why with the default option (one cell, sphere) I had to crank up the Particles in the PHX Source up to 100 mill to see good results...?

Ok, thanks, So I´ll just keep in mind to switch that option for my next sims where I need drag particles...
