  • how to: emitt foam that travels with the flow

    hello phoenix pro's

I would like to make something similar with phoenix (nightly from 6.10.2015) http://c2n.me/3oMtjFR.png
in my setup the foam (emitted from the planes) does not travel with the flow of the water, it stays or disappears too fast...
any ideas how to setup this?

    best regards

    Whats your setup?

I think creating an uplifting motion would create a similar effect. So maybe an emitter pushing liquid upwards would do the trick.

For the foam disappearing, what have you tried to adjust to make it live longer?

thanks for your idea... emitting water is not the right choice, because my water lever have to be the same over time. so I tried with drag particles, but I thin in the newest PHX it's not supported.
I should have some force, without adding more water to my sim.

you can accelerate the water by force, currently the plain force have no distance control (we have to add it), but the follow path force can do this, just set the radial and orbital speed to zero. you can also use the max forces, they are supported too, but we had some problems with the gravity and wind forces, i think they have some issues when used in multiple cores.

thanks for the idea, but I don't get it... I have made a straight line, reset XForm and took it in the FollowPath helper, set radial and orbital speed to 0, but nothing happens, or it happens the wrong way, the middle (where the path is) is the lowest point and the sides are higher, but I get random results, if I start over then the result is an other...
maybe you can make a simple scene for me...? I am frustrated to get not the result I want, it's not because of the software, but it's because I am not able to make it. I am too dumb to setup right. but it's an important job so I have to get a result.

sorry, it's my mistake, the follow path also have no decay option, apparently we have to add decay/range options of all the forces, for now only the body force has one.
however, i was able to use the max vortex force, see the attached scene and movie

wanted to work today on this. I opened your scene hit simulate and I got another result than you... http://c2n.me/3pgevbR.png worser mesh than you and other movement of the liquid... work with nightly 26350. any idea why i get another result?

              thanks

if I want to make it from scratch with the new PhoenixFDLiquid simulator, I can't get a mesh... also in rendering. what do I make wrong? nightly issue (see above)?

                thanks

well, there was a bug in the last week, select the simulator and type in the listener $.surflevel =0.5

I think its a new bug. I mentioned it in the post where you told us to use the $.surflevel =0.5. After a few renders the mesh doesn't redraw in the viewport and of course the render. It is completely random when this will happen.

you mean the lack of upgoing stream? i have no idea, it's a fresh scene, tested here. will investigate it

thanks for checking it... why do you have set the system unit to 1.0=4.0 world units?
