  • How to extend ocean beyond view

How do I extend the ocean beyond the view limits?
it's normally small enough to render larger and crop into but that's not really an option with this scene -

It took me 2 hours of messing around with caustics settings and the photon emit radius before i realized this is what the issue was... the ocean doesnt exist outside of the frame, so how can it make caustics...

e: might not actually be that issue tbh, the line doesnt move when I pull the camera out. I still dont understand what's happening here - they're casting much further out from the grid into the ocean part, not following the line of the grid or the camera, and no matter where i move the photon emit radius/light/camera the caustics cut off at the same place.

currently there is no automated solution, this problem arose multiple times and we have some ideas for solution, but have nothing implemented yet.
the solution for the moment is to add a plane and to displace it with vray displacement.

ok cool, i'm ok knowing it's not possible and i wasnt just doing something dumb. thanks!

I've only got 100 frames of my wave test rendered so far but the new versions of phoenix are incredible, thank you! The interface changes have helped massively, there's very little messing around setting up, everything is straight to the point. It's more usable than ever before!
