  • Newest manual for Phoenix FD

We bought 2.20 version made in 2014 but this newest version is so different and has a lot of new features like droplets, sticky etc etc Where can we get the newest up to date manual

    Thank you

    Hey,

There are several "?" buttons here and there on the simulator object, as well as in the Phoenix toolbar, which point to the nightly builds help site. Unfortunately, the liquid simulation help was not kept up to date as there were many things changing all the time there - you can find more recent info only about the fire/smoke part there. Hopefully soon we will make public a full version of the help file.

    Cheers!

      Thank you
I guess there are no more substeps for liquids
      One question.
what does Consumed liquid, droplets surfing and sticky mean? Does sticky means like paint gets stuck on walls?

Oh, the steps per frame are still there in the Dynamics panel - is this what you mean?

You got the Sticky option right - when you have wetting enabled, it controls how strongly the liquid sticks to the wet geometry. Consumed Liquid controls the amount of liquid particles are consumed by the wetting process and converted into a wetmap - a simple everyday example of that would be if you have blood splattered over a wall - if Consumed Liquid is zero, the blood will form streaks that will continue sliding over the surface infinitely, so you might want to increase the option's value in order to make those run out of liquid eventually

Droplets Surfing affects the liquid and the splash particles - it allows to control how long a particle slides over the liquid surface before it merges with the liquid - this is usually useful when you have a fishtank type of sim.

        Cheers!
