  • Simulation changes when I change cell size

I have a pretty simple smoke simulation. Its a room that gets filled, with some turbulence to make it spread.

The problem is that when I change the number of cells from 5 million to 50 million, the simulation changes. Suddenly it seems that the turbulence has much less effect, and even less smoke overall. The difference is pretty big too ...

Is this simething you know the cause of, or do I need to describe the scene in more detail?

Yup, this is how computational grid simulations work - changing the grid resolution would produce quite different results because of the butterfly effect each small detail has on the progressing animation. You can sometimes get away with increasing the resolution, but these would be very simple cases like an object burning or smoking, or liquid pouring from a static emitter.

If you are happy with the look of the simulation at low res, you should use resimulation to increase the resolution while keeping the same shape and behavior.

      I see, thanks
Resimulation it is then . Is there anything particular I need to be aware of in that regard?

Not really, but if you have any issues, please bump me
