  • Bodyforce - making liquid come to a complete stop and perfect form of a volume

So I am making a scene where liquid poors up and into a volume of a model - I can make the liquid fill the volume - but how do I get it to come to a complete stop eventually, and to perfectly adhere to the model, with all the details?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4tCr86cSqk

I really love that demo - so to pit it another way - how do I stop the wave motion when the bodyforce fluid forms into a shape?

I want it to end up as a perfect solid statue.

I guess it has something to do with the damping velocity settings, but I find the instructions slightly confusing.

For example what does this mean:

Damp min vel. | dampstart – The threshold velocity for the Internal damp force. This parameter is used to prevent total freezing of the fluid inside the body. Since the fluid must remain "alive", it must have some residual movement.

What number do I use for a stop? a higher number or lower number?

    Hey,

You need a lower number - this is the velocity above which the damping works, so that slower parts of the fluid are allowed to move and look like liquid We'll correct the docs to explain this better.

So, my suggestion would be to use high damping, zero min velocity, and if the liquid still oscillates, then you could use the playback options in the Input rollout and animate the already simulated sequence to a halt.

    Hope this helps

Hey dude - thanks, your tips are helping.

Would I be able to get your email address so I can throw a small file your way to get you to have a little look at it and see what you think?

Ah, sure, but it might be faster to send it over to Support at chaosgroup dot com - I've got a bunch of other scenes too and new features and some bugs to fix, so it will be a matter of weeks before I get to it.

        Cheers man!
