  • "Initial state" posible?

    Hello,

Is there a way to set up an "initial state" like it is possible in realflow so that the simulation its already at a certain stage for the shot's time range.
I can see in the Input time bend controls you have options for "cache start" and "play start" but that doesn't seem to take effect without re-simulating first.

So what would be the proper workflow to create an "initial state"?

    Thank you.

There is an "Initial State" check box conveniently, if you right click the object to which you wish to set it to and choose Phoenix FD Properties

.. or you could use the Load & Start button from the Simulation rollout - it would allow you to pick a cache file which would be uses as an initial state of the simulation and it would start using that data.

We also have a tutorial that is almost ready to be published on the docs site - it explains how to easily fill a glass or another open volume: initial-fill-glass-tutor.zip

          Hello,
I tried the initial-fill setting but the liquid collapses and compress down and explode up inside my container (a bottle) and then takes a long time to settle down. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

            Hey,

If it collapses, make sure to use 10 steps per frame or more. if this doesn't completely solve it, you can additionally increase your scene scale - you can also fake it just for Phoenix using the Scene Scale option in the Dynamics rollout.

If the liquid explodes though, make sure you don't have any issues with the geometry - flipped normals, holes or overlapping faces. |All normals must face the liquid in order to contain it. Also, make sure you are using 3.04 or a newer nightly build.

            Hope this helps, cheers!
