  • initial fill, object: Maya

    Hi,
I am using an object as an initial fill source. My issue is that at the moment once the simulation starts the amount of liquid shrinks down to only 20-40% of the objects volume.
Is there a way/setting I can use to ensure that this amount does not 'compress' in this manner so much.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

More steps per frame and a larger scene scale help the liquid settle without too much jumping up and down - give these a shot if your values aren't already high.

    Cheers!

OK. It isn't jumping up and down though. It just shrinks/compresses downwards. It isnt a problem I have when i set an initial fill on a simulator - only if i set an initial fill on an object ( on the additional node properties ).

I set the scale to be 5x what it was, and the steps to be 1/5 - but still the same effect.

I can see whats going on now, If i look at it side on I can see that it is filling the initial volume like a shell and is hollow in the middle.. I have no idea why.

OK. Figured it out now. The source mesh was too close to the collision object. Once i shrunk it a lil The object was filled like a normal volume.

edit: Nope I stand corrected. Its still behaving as though its a shell.

Ah yes - here is a way you to approach it which could save you some time modelling - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ith+Containers

Yep, reversing the normals did the trick.

                Thanks!
