  • Looping a wave sim?

    Hi,

Planning on using Phoenix for a wave sim on a holding state for a projection mapping for a building - since the sequence is going to be a few minutes long, was looking at ways to get the breaking waves looping over say 30 seconds or so - current plan is to just do it in post as an organic fade, but did wonder if there are any methods for actually making something as complex as that loop in the scene?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi,

The Phoenix's Ocean Texture has Time Bend controls which allow it to loop seamlessly. To use them you will need Phoenix FD 3.10 or a later nightly build.
When used as a displacement the texture will blend perfectly, but if you use it to guide a Wave Force in a simulation there are a lot more factors in play, so the simulation may not loop precisely and it will be better to use the Simulator's Time Bend controls to blend the beginning and the end of the loop when rendering.
