looks right to me. i installed and got the failed to initialize but 3.11 is working fine when reinstalled.?
thanks
edit: tried 2019 version, worked fine no error.
tried 2016 again, failed to initialize.
Indeed, seems like the V-Ray SDK was broken between V-Ray 3.4 and 3.6. Since we added support for the V-Ray light select render element, this exposed the issue.
There are two possible solutions - either you grab V-Ray 3.6, or we can remove the support for light selects for V-Ray 3, and this will make Phoenix compatible with V-Ray versions back to 3.1.
Well, we don`t currently use light selects but I wouldn`t want to speak for everyone else. If it`s an easy fix maybe a specific build would be very much appreciated, although if that`s gonna be a load extra work only just for us I understand if it`s not an option. At some point we`ll have to update as 3dsmax 2020 is gonna come out and we won`t have access to 2016 any more, 3 versions back for subscriptionI think. We tend to take a `if it ain`t broke` approach to upgrades and 3.4 has handled everything we need so far.
I think it would be the lesser evil to return the light selects to their previous state for V-Ray 3 and keep them only for V-Ray Next, so the older V-Ray 3 versions are still compatible. Light selects will still be able to work correctly when the phoenix light cache is disabled, otherwise they will show buckets.
Sounds good to me, it will allow me to upgrade phoenix to the latest, as long as there is negligible impact on anyone else. That would be great thanks.
