  • Phoenix FD and VRay don't render big .aur Files at around 10Gb

    Hello,

I encountered a Problem in a Scene i am working on. Actually i had this Problem a few Times, also in other Scenes. I like to produce very Highend Related Scenes. The Thing is, when i would like to render, maybe Frame 82 of a Scene simulated until Frame 89 over the Night, there are no displayed Meshes nor any Foam Particles and when i hit render, it renders only the collision Object, which in this Case is a Rock. When i check the Folder where the .aur Files are stored, the ones which exceed 10Gb don't render. I can't assure if this is about the File Size? It didn't run out of RAM so far. So what's the Problem here? Any Ideas?

    Thanks in Advance.

    Hey,

    1. how much ram do you have?

2.Can you please paste here the cache file content from the simulation rollout of one of the caches that does not render?

    3. Can you check the Phoenix log in c:/phoenixfd and send it over right after a frame did not render.

    Cheers!

      Hello,
      1. I have 72 GB of RAM, this is because my Mainboards A1 Place for the RAM don't work and i mixed with other RAM. this changes soon, as i buy a new Computer.
      2. Yes i will, i resimulated the Scene, because i made some Changes.
      3. Yes i can, when i finished the Simulation.

Ok, here is the Phoenix FD Log File, the .aur File which doesn't render anymore and the Scene. Hope this will help you.

        Cheers

there is a Error uploading Image Message when i try to attach the .aur File. The Size is about 10Gb uncompressed and about 2.71GB compressed with WinZip. is it still to big? is there another Option to Upload such big Files?

Hey, found it in the log file. Indeed the cache file overflows one of the numbers that keep track of the data size. We will figure out the fix, but meanwhile you could try to simulate with some disabled grid channels - I see you have Grid RGB, Grid Viscosity and Grid Texture UVW. If you don't need some of those, turn them off from the Output rollout and simulate again - this will reduce the size of the cache files and will workaround the error.

Please ping me if you are able to try this out - looking forward to your results. And I'll ping you if you can grab a new nightly with a fix.

            Cheers!

Hi, i am resimulating the Scene now only with the Channels i really need. It reduces the Size of the cached Files a lot. Would be so nice if we could get a Nightly Update if it's ready. Thank You. I hope to post as soon as Possible some cool Results of my Tests.

                  Hey,

Just wanted to let you know that if you get a nightly build from today, Phoenix will be able to write and read correctly cache files over 8GB.

Here is how to get a nightly build - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...nightly-builds

                  Cheers!
