  • Wrapper question.

    Hi,

I have a phenix test-sim that is going through a door. When I want to render this, I want the alpha channel to only affect the visible smoke and fire. But I'm struggling to figure out how I remove the alpha channel from the smoke that is behind this wall, as the smoke carries through to my alpha channel. I'm using the Wrapper material override.

    1. Uploaded one showing what my camera sees in RGB.
    2. Another with Alpha, where the smake behind the wall carries through.
    3. Showing the wall, and that the sim doesn't have smoke going through that wall. Only smoke behind the wall, that shouldn't be visible.

    Hello,

Can you send over the scene so we can take a look where the problem is?

    Thanks!

Is it possible to upload it somewhere else? I can't seem to download it from there - I tried with Chrome,Firefox and Internet Explorer but it's not working unfortunately.

In order to get the correct result you will need to plug a Base material for the overriding Wrapper material. Then the alpha of the wall will affect the smoke correctly. In order to get only the contact shadows you will need to set the Alpha Contribution to -1 as well.

                Cheers,

Nice! I assume the correct way is to use a black colour too in the base material for the Wrapper?

This depends on the settings you would like to use for the matte, but black color should do the job yes. You can find more about the Wrapper here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...VRayMtlWrapper
