  • correct way to make an infinity pool

hi, How you guys deal with this kind of pools? What would be the ideal setup on phoenix?

    thank you!

    Hey,

If you want your pool to be dynamic ( if you want to splash some objects or more water inside of it) - you can take a look at this tutorial and follow the same approach - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ith+Containers

If you don't need splashes or liquid interaction you can just make a regular plane and use the Phoenix Ocean texutre as a displacement.

oceantex on the top surface, animated texture for the vertical portion and the base 2 oceantex's masked with a gradient ramp so the one closer in is a little more agitated. if your camera isnt inches away from the edge this will be fine - and if it is, just use a super fine grid and dont simulate the entire thing.

does the plane with oceantex has to have thickness? I allways do it without thickness, but I think I´m getting strange Refraction results. Take a look a the images, the one without thickness, cuts the ball at the moment intersects the water.
        thank you for your input!

Indeed in order to get a correct refraction you need some thickness.

1 cm thickeness or the same size as the pool´s depth?

Depends on the result you're after, but the picture you shared above with the thickness seems good to me.

Having the real thickness should give you proper results, note that the thickness also affects the fog color of the refraction. You can find more about how refractions work here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY4MAX/VRayMtl

Leo did you manage to get a reasonable result for this? The reference images you posted are exactly what I need to replicate at the minute
