    • Hey, so how does the pure ocean with this ocean tex look in animation?

Could it be the waves are too tall or too fast?

Also, what are the settings of the wave force?

Hey Svetlin. Are you speaking about the MP4's I shared ? If yes, in this simulation there no waveforce, so no waves. I'm wondering why the boat is already having all these movements. Right now, I'm simulating the exact same with waveforce on, to make a better comparison.
I will probably have to send you the scene because it's difficult to help without seeing all the settings.

[EDIT] Now I'm thinking: do we need to have a tall enough simulator to keep the active body hull always into the simulator ? If the boat lifts up, and the bow of it gets out of the simulator grid, dos it still work ?

        • Oh, you are wondering why the boat is bobbing up and down?

There are two factors in real life that control this:
          - Velocity.
          - The direction of the thruster.

Also, switch between thruster attached to the body ON/OFF.

            Yes!

The thruster is attached to the body. Now, I wonder how the thruster is placed. Is the thruster position locked as soon as you tick the checkbox ? It would actually help if the helper node would follow the clone when "attached" is ticked.
In my case, might the thruster be in a bad position ?

            • Here is a comparison Left / Right -> Without / With Waveforce.
The only change I made between those two simulations is the addition of the Waveforce. To me, the difference is absolutely huge, even if the waves are not really big. Now, I only have to discover what is wrong in my setup

              • Here's the latest comparison where motion velocity values of 2 and 4 are being used. I see some wake and foam developing on the sides of the hull. I started another one using the Motion velocity value of 8.0.

I'm jumping into this very useful topic, trying for the first time the new boat setup (but also with waveforce).
                  I'm on Maya 2019.3.1, Vray5.2.2 & Phoenix 5.00.00
I cannot seem to change the center of mass. After moving it, as soon as I start the sim, it jumps back to original position. Or do I have to change it the very first time before the phx_clone is created ?

                  thanks !

[EDIT] Override center of mass checkbox is ticked in phoenix attributes (hull mesh)
Hey, overriding the center of mass is fixed in today's nightlies: https://nightlies.chaos.com/#/phoeni...ghtly/20220622

                  Thank you for reporting this!

Adjusting the center of mass and the density should help in this case. Just make sure to get the nightly as Svetlin mentioned in the previous post.

                    • Thanks ! I will try out the nightly build asap. For now, I'm trying out (again) some density values to look how it affects the overall simulation on these 170 frames

Hi, good that you start to have something happening. That said, there must be something off in your scene. Usually, I'm at motion velocity 1.0 and I think I never went above 2.0

                        • here is a comparison on 3 densities. I started with 70 but wanted to see a lower and a higher value. I'm slowly getting to a result as with 80 it starts to look like something. I could afford here a little more thruster (as you can see my reference boat at 25knots has some advance at the end of playblast).

PS: still not with nightly build

Hi, I can confirm that moving the center of mass works in the nightly. That doesn't change so much in the simulation. I tried also to specify Mass rather than Density, as the customer told me what the expected mass is. But when I use that value, the boat tends to sink
Is the Mass value in any way related to the overall size or volume of the boat hull ?

                              Thanks,

I just noticed, the speed was a bit too slow. In my template 33 knots was used, however, this hull has been designed for speeds over 50 knots. I fixed that and also increased both grid density and steps per frame too. I also reduced the motion velocity effect back to 2.0.

And now I think I have to switch to midsummer celebration mode. Tomorrow is a national holiday. Towns are empty and quiet as most of the folks are in countryside. However, I try to monitor the simulation and let You know if the results get better.

Hi, I tried to batch simulate with the nightly (mayabatch) from 20220622 on Maya2019 and Maya2020, but it returned "Maya exited with status 210".
