  • FD 4.20 Crash when loading a FD4.00 scene

    Hi,

I tried now 10 times with two different scenes.
    maya 2019.3.1 / phoenixFD_adv_42000_maya2019_vray4_x64

I'm loading a scene simulated with FD4.00. Scene opening works, and Phoenix detecs an old version and converts.
But as soon as I try to change the input path (by editing the path), maya exits without any error message...
I will try again with a third scene.

    cheers

    Hey,

Can't seem to crash it in here.

Can you send over a scene along with a few caches if they are needed so we can check what is going on?
Do you just change the input path or are you loading another cache file? Could it be that there is something wrong with the caches you're loading? What if you try to load another cache?

    Thanks!

      Hi,

Thanks for the quick response. I tested on a third scene and there it didn't crash. One big difference between the two first scenes and the third scene is that the first ones looked for caches on a UNC network path, and the third one looked on a local path.
One thing I will try before I'm sending you anything is to save back the scene before trying to make ony change.

Regarding your question: I tried to change the input path for another file that doesn't exist yet. First I changed the output path, and then copy/pasted this path to the input path (I'm doing that all the time). But first time it crashed also when I did I rewind on the timeline (back to frame 0).

Some more tests. Saving back the scene with FD4.20 doesn't resolve the problem. After reloading the scene it crashes again.
Now, i disconnected the drive where the network cache was. I could laod the scene, change the path and rewind.
After reconnecting the network drive, I could load again the original cache files. No crash after reloading, everything works normally.

and... after making some changes, updating with a new hull object and changing the output path (worked) and input path... crash again :/
I will prepare a scene that I can send you.
