  • Rt render vs Final render

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with I scene I'm working on.
Basically, when I use the RT in vray the infinite ocean is rendered ok, but when I do the final render it looks wrong.
Is there any known reason? before opening a ticket for nothing maybe

Hey, something is not right, but when you say RT, sounds like you might be using some very old versions. Which V-Ray do you use (meaning 3/4/5)? Do you render on CPU or GPU? Aaaand also, which version of Phoenix do you use?

my apologies for the missing information.
Sorry for IT, many software call it in different ways, ipr rt, what I meant is the interactive render, not the final production one.

      vray 5, update 1.3 CPU

Ah, so everything is up to date. I just tried an Ocean toolbar preset + V-Ray Sun and Sky with IPR CPU and IPR GPU and it seems to be working fine (after I start the sim for 1 frame and then stop it).
Can you check if that setup works fine for you? If it does, then maybe there is something specific to the camera or render settings that causes it. If the toolbar preset does not work for you either, then maybe you are doing some specific steps that I don't do here.

Please ping me after you've tried it.

I tried with the preset and seems to work fine, either for the IPR or final render.
but this has no sim or any moving elements...I don't know, I don't get why it works in IPR and not for final.

Could I send you the scene?
Model is not mine so I should send it by contact form

Sure, please send the scene over. If it's a rendering issue, I suppose it would reproduce even if you delete the model so you won't have to worry about it?

In this case, only the scene + 1 cache file should be enough. Or even! If you enable Pure Ocean in the Rendering rollout, it would construct the ocean surface without looking at the cache file at all.

Ah, and one more thing before sending it - there is a slight chance you could be running out of memory, can you first send over the Phoenix log from C:\ChaosPhoenix, copied right right after the issue happens?

            Thanks!

I didn't think about it( to delete the model) but you are right.
Ok, let me try with pure ocean.

Thank you! The log does not show anything suspicious, so grabbing the scene and one cache... Will ping you when I know more!

Oh okay, I think I found it - check the Export rollout - there is an option there named "Export as" which should be returned to Disabled after you've done any Alembic export, but it remained set to Mesh in your scene. Setting it to Disabled and changing the timeline frame should fix the issue, and I will add a warning to the Phoenix log about it.

Hooray! I will add a warning to the log file in case this option is on.
