  • Vray spawner distributed rendering with Phoenix FD issue

    Hi!

I have an issue with distributed rendering with cash files. I use Vray spawner for network rendering, and everything went well until there was a simulation in the animation. For me it seems like the slave computer doesn't read the cache files correctly. I gave an UNC network path for the cache files where the they can be readed from.
Could you please help me with this?

I found out that the server machine renders only the liqiud in the domain, but no ocean or displacement. Are these datas stored in the cache files too? The Phoenix is installed both the computers, so I guess if the cache contains the ocean data it should be rendered on both devices. Did I miss some settings?

      Hi,

Can you attach the V-Ray and Phoenix log files from the render node/server machine? You can see here how to get them:
      https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...taBug-Logfiles

Yes, for the Ocean mesh (without Pure ocean) the cache files are loaded. Do you see any errors in the log on the render slave about missing caches? If yes, then most probably the render node can access them and it would be good to check the guide here:

        Hi,

Sure find them in the attachment and thank you for the help.
I didn't see any errors but hope you can find something useful.
I didn't think that the render node can't access them, because it renders liquid just without the ocean. It seems like to me that the node cant reach the Oceantexmap or something like that.

No warnings or errors in the log, everything looks good.
Can you try to lower the Ocean Subdivs and perform a new test render? Can you also try to use the DR with one new simple scene setup using the Ocean preset only? Does it work in this configuration?
Double check that the V-Ray and Phoenix plugin versions are identical on all nodes.

Let me know if this helps or not.

Thanks, I'll try. Meanwhile I was thinking that maybe the ram is too short for the render in the node machine? It has got 16 GB, cause it's an older model. Can it be the problem? In the log file there was a line where it said that the splash/mist in point mode and displacement can consume additional memory.

It is possible yes, you can identify this by simplifying the scene and lowering the Ocean settings and the Particles count multiplier too.

I have good and bad news too.
On one hand I tried a simple ocean project on spawner and it worked fine. This means the Phoenix do read the cache files correct.
On the other hand I got an another machine with more ram, and quite good specs, and the ocean is still not rendering well in my project. I really don't know what causes the trouble. :/
                Any idea?

This is weird, Can you Archive the project file and submit a support request from here:
                  https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
There is an option to upload the files. You can add one or two Phoenix caches as we won't need the whole sequence.

We will first try to render it here with DR to see if there is a problem with this specific setup and then eventually write you back to arrange a remote session.
