  • Emit from Polygon ID not working (Source smoke sim)

    Hello,

I have since a long time problem which must be a bug as I think:

When I'm using a cylinder as emitter and set one polygon on ID10 (the other just on ID1)
and set the output in the source to 10, then nothing is emitting.

It emits only when I set it on 0 (which means from all polygons) but it does not take the ID.

I have this issue since months...

    (today using latest Phoenix 5)

    Thanks for help

Huh, does it work with id 1 instead of 10?

If not, could you send the scene over? I have just used this a few days ago and it was working, so perhaps there are additional differences between what you do and what I do that I am missing...

      Hi Svetlin,

no, only if I rotate the cylinder in certain directions (upwards), then it works.
The emitted smoke is drifting upwards to the right.
The outgoing velocity of the emitter doesn't affect it, I tested it also very high velocity

I can send the file by email.

      Thanks

Oh, is it confidential? The forums should allow you to attach it here, otherwise you gotta send it over to Support at support.chaos.com.

Strange indeed, could be a rare fluke or something more exotic... It should work though, so if it doesn't we gotta make it
