  • VRDomeCamera + ocean bug

I'm having trouble using a VRayDomeCamera with ocean. It renders fine at first, but if I move the camera I get the weird result below. If I switch to VRayPhysicalCamera, the render is fine (bottom image).
What's causing this and how can I fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hey,

It seems to be working here. Can you send us over a simplified scene so we can check what's happening?

Also, could you tell us which are your exact Phoenix and V-Ray versions?
In order to find out the exact Phoenix version you can check the About info window. 3ds Max → Top 3ds Max Phoenix FD Menu → About Phoenix.
You can find the V-Ray version in the Render settings window → Settings tab → About V-Ray rollout.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I'd really appreciate some help on this. I have about a week to finish it.

I've uploaded the max file, a single cache file and the resulting render. I'm using max 2020, VRay Next 3.3 (4.30.03 build 31225) and Phoenix 4.41.02 Nightly.

Hey, my colleague Kaloyan did a few changes to the dome camera support in the nightlies, and the original issue is resolved - FOV above 127 works fine now, but there are artifacts between FOV 75-127.

Please grab a latest nightly (from https://nightlies.chaos.com/#/phoenix5max/nightly) and verify that it fixes your scene if you don't have time to wait until the complete fix. We will update the thread when everything is resolved...

                Thank you!
I'm looking at the nightlies here but I can't see a new build for Phoenix4. The last one is the 29th of July.

                        Hey,

My colleague Kaloyan did some more changes to the Dome camera support and with latest Phoenix 4 nightlies everything should work properly.

Please ping us in case there are any issues.

                        Cheers!

                          Thanks!
I've been busy and haven't had a chance to check the provisional fix either. I should have some time next week.

Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated.

At last I had time to try the latest build. It works great.
                            Thanks again for the help!
