  • ocean mesh level with adaptive grid

    HI
I have a liquid sim with adaptive grid set to extend +Z.
at first frame, the fill level % and the render ocean level are the same value, and the ocean is at correct height, but as the grid expands upwards the render ocean mesh becomes too high.
is this correct behaviour when using?
so as it is, the adaptive liquid should not be used for oceans, correct?

    cheers

Hi, thanks for posting. Are you talking about a shift in the liquid surface similar to this one:

If your simulation looks similar, this is expected. You may need to tweak the settings or try to animate the ocean level.

similar, but a lot more exaggerated , it would be nightmare to animate and "match", best not to use for ocean scenarios i feel
      thanks

Hang in there, will try to do a quick fix so the adaptive grid works with the ocean level. However, if you can't wait, the workaround would be to start off with a tall grid and disable the adaptive grid.

Hooray! Glad you like it! Will ping you when there is some progress - with a little luck, the change to the ocean level will be in tomorrow's nightlies...

Hey, it didn't make it in today's nightlies, but it will be in tomorrow's. You will be able to find the builds here: https://nightlies.chaos.com/#/phoenix5max/nightly, int he 20230317 folder.

Now the Ocean Level % would NOT take the current height of the grid for the current frame, but instead will always take the height of the first frame of the cache sequence, so that when the grid expands up or down, the ocean level would stay fixed.

                Cheers!
