  • Phoenix FD. Noise in the render when two smoke simulators intersect

Good evening. I’m trying to animate the sliding of two cars. For each car, I'm using a separate simulator to generate the smoke.

Everything works fine, except that, where the simulators intersect, the smoke from the second car becomes noticeably noisier in the render.

Has anyone encountered this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I've already tried setting the simulator to non-solid and adding one as an exception to the other. The result remains the same.

Could this be related to the simulators having different parameters?

    Hello,

The noise seems to be related to the rendering part in this case. Which versions of Phoenix and V-Ray are you using?

If by any chance you have the Volume Light Cache option enabled in the Smoke Color settings in the Volumetric Options - how about if you turn it off?

    Thanks!

      Hey Georgi Zhekov.
Thank you for your response. I’m using Corona 12 Hotfix 1 and Phoenix FD 5.22.00.

I tried disabling the feature as you suggested, but the result remained the same.

Ah - if it is Corona, then the Volume Light cache won't have any effect.

Is it possible to send us the scene along with a few cache files so that we can check what is going on? You can submit the scene through support.chaos.com (there is Submit a request button at top right).

        Thanks!
