  • Submitting to Deadline Maya Phoenix

Has anyone ever run into this error when submitting to deadline?

Error: V-Ray error: ERROR: Could not create plugin PhoenixFDCache !

I ensured I installed the correct Vray versions and Phoenix to the computers. Keep getting this error.

    Hello,

Looks like a problem with the installation. How about if you try and run a test simulation locally on the machine without Deadline - does this work?

I have Phoenix installed on 2 machines, and I tested rendering both locally and they output the images fine.
Those 2 machines are also on deadline as workers.
When I submit to the deadline and only use those two machines, I get that error.
There was no error during installation, so I am not sure why that came up.

Can you send us the full logs from the workers? Also is this error showing up when you are only trying to render through Deadline or you try to simulate and render via Deadline?

        Thanks!

I attached the full worker log, both pc has this same log.
This error only shows up when i render through deadline, not simulate via deadline.

            Thanks for the file!

Everything looks normal in the log besides the error.

We ran a test on our side just to make sure everything works correctly and can't reproduce the issue.

How about if you run a Maya batch job locally through the command line - does it render correctly? If yes, then it's probably a problem on the Deadline side of things - and maybe their team can help with debugging the issue.

If rendering locally through Maya batch fails, how about if you reinstall the software, both V-Ray and Phoenix?

Maya batch locally works perfectly. I tried uninstalling and installing vray/phoenix again, maya batch locally still works and still have that same deadline error.

Then it would be best to contact Deadline - probably they are overriding some environment variables or something else happens on their side that makes it fail.

Meanwhile as a workaround - if you're rendering fire and smoke or liquids without any foam or splashes - how about if you load the cache files in a V-Ray Volume Grid instead - would this work?

I took your advice and tried the vray volume grid, it actually submitted to deadline no problem. I'll check with deadline, thanks much.
