  • Phoenix light artifacts

    Hello

Recently I tried to use Phoenix as clouds
I have experienced lighting issue - it appears when I put a some kind of ground into the scene (vrayplane or just an ordinary plane)
    As seen in attachments

It looks like it is related to rendering bracket (default 64x64) but with some blur (around2 pixels)

Also I have found that to have some bright clouds and visible direct illumination on them you have to brighten light (in my case multiplier = 10) an to leave sky brightens intact set manual sun node multiplier as it was not modified (=1).
I have already set my diffuse channel cloud to white and light multiplier = 2 (when i set 4 i have to bright skylight influence).

    light multiplier = 4

It would be nice to have more fluent solution for setting up such behaviour.
I still have some isuues with setting some phong-like lighting - some thing like this:

looks like dr problem. if you have no dr, then try to switch off the light cache of phoenix (in the diffuse panel). this will slow down the rendering speed significantly, but if the problem disappears, it will give us a direction to the problem.

Switching off kind of helped - now there are only artifacts in real cloud (reflection cloud seems fine).

      Light cache Off

I checked some rendering options - it seems the difference in light appears as soon some of the brackets start to render cloud reflection - after that the next rendered parts of real cloud are over-bright

ok, definitively not the light cache. but what about the dr, you didn't say is it single machine rendering or not. if you are using dr, the solution seems to be simple - make sure that all the vray/phoenix versions are are the same.
if there is no dr, i would have a look to the scene.

I misinterpreted "dr" as direct lighting - don't know why.
          I use only one machine
here is link to my scene:

I don't know if it is relevant, but I store Phoenix cache *.aur files in a folder mapped as a network drive.

i was unable to reproduce the problem, it's possible that the bug has been fixed at some stage.
