  • Removing grid-like artifacts?

How do I remove the artifacts at the bottom of the smoke in this image? I have tried to reduce the Step (%) parameter to 5% but still getting artifacts. The scene has a single spotlight on the left and it is using ray tracing. I understand that light caching can cause this kind of artifact, but I don't believe I have light caching turned on. I'm using default render settings.

    Thanks.

seems like light cache is to blame, try to render without light cache and tell us if the problem persist

Is Light Cache on by default? Sorry, but where do I turn it off?

I thought I'd add to this post rather than starting a new one.

I'm getting the same issues on the FD 2.2. I've tried lowering the step% but it doesn't help, it just slows down the render. Any help on what to do ?

cant say without image or scene, for example too strong alpha can cause this, but light cache problems also can cause grid artifacts
