"Cannot start the Re-Simulation" message pops up even when I have velocity checked on and the paths are all correct. Does any one have this issue and know why. I've tried other scenes and some scenes have this problem and some don't.

Here are all the panels just in case and a sample look of the scene. Right now I have the grid set high because I am at the moment I can get Resim to work. The down side is that my Phoenix simulations take all my memory "32 GB". Also, I ordered another 32 GB because I have other scene that were having resim issues and those most likely will go over the 32 GB I have) on this system and has been simulating for the past two day... :,-(

Hello, from the screenshot you posted, I can see that you have:
- Adaptive Grid enabled,
- Preallocate Memory: When Adaptive,
- Limited By: Free Memory,
- Limited To: 90 (this means %)
----> This is why phoenix eats up all your memory - you have adaptive grid that preallocates 90% of your free memory at the start of the simulation, so it can grow faster during the simulation.
You may set Preallocate Memory to Disabled, or you may reduce the "Limited To" parameter.Svetlin Nikolov, Ex Phoenix team lead

Thanks a0121536, interesting name :P
I did what you said and I presently get from 30GB to 50GB of my ram used when simulating. "Just upgraded from 32GB to 64GB" Will try the resimulation option again soon here. Let me know if you have any idea why I'm having trouble with resim.Last edited by arcfx; 31-07-2013, 12:38 PM.

Hmm, you say that the memory usage increased? What did you change? Try disabling the grid preallocation - this way you will use the smallest amount of memory possible for your simulation.
About the error - can you please paste the exact error text that you get? (When the error pops up, press CTRL+C and Windows will copy the message for you).
I suspect that the problem may be that you have changed the default Input and Output paths, but you didn't change the paths for Resimulation and phoenix can't find t.
An exampe of correct paths is:
- Input = Y:\some folder\cache (the renderer searches here)
- Output = Y:\some folder\cache (the simulation creates cache files here)
- Resimulation Input = Y:\some folder\cache (the REsimulation reads the simulated caches from here)
- Resimulation Output = Y:\some folder\cache_resim (the REsimulation creates it's new cache files here)Svetlin Nikolov, Ex Phoenix team lead

Hey, I'm back with this issue still, I will be resimulating with the velocity output checked and I still get this message.
---------------------------
Phoenix FD
---------------------------
Cannot start the Re-Simulation!
Please make sure the simulation was run with the 'Velocity' channel checked under the 'Output' rollout, and that the *.aur cache files exist.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Below is a link to a sample scene, keep in mind that I can recreate this exact scene again and it will work fine but play around with the scene enough and the problem comes back. I noticed if I load a preset that I created that the problem appears even if the settings worked for another scene.
