  • Emerging from fluid

    Hello.
I am experimenting with object emerging from fluid and have some weird bugs going on.
First is a fluid increasing volume after object has emerged, although that I've overcome by switching from smooth to multi-pass method, enabling static surface correction.
Second is a weird behaviour of fluid on emerging box. The liquid fills that box, which I think is only a visualization but the fluid flowing from that box seams very static.
Third is a weird boiling behaviour, which could be explained by drops falling from emerged box, but it seams to be to intense.
I fill the space with fluid by Initial fill up.

Here are links to corresponding scenes:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ugs/emerge.max
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...gs/emerge2.max

First one have been recreated because I've made some changes.
In First one there is a bug with growing volume.

Is there any way it should be done different?
I intent to make animation of creature emerging form the sea.

the static liquid appearance is because the moving objects in phoenix do not change the overlapped grid content. this is a problem in many cases, but the opposite situation would be a problem too.
we have a mechanism that clears the overlapped cells but there is no UI in 3d max that allows the user to use it. i will add it today and you will be able to use it tomorrow.
open the object properties of the emerging box, go to the user defined properties and type PHX_ClearInside=true

I assume that this functionality would be available in nightlies? Becouse I've just made a test and it is still there

yes, tomorrow will be available. and no need to type user defined properties by hand, there was enough time to add UI, right click->phoenix fd properties-> clear grid content when moving

Hi, do you use the latest nightly of VRay as well? (that's version 3.05.05)

No, nightlies only from Phoenix FD, with regular Vray 3 beta 3.05.04

Well, unfortunately since v-ray 3 is still in development, sometimes it breaks compatibility with its intermediate versions, while phoenix nightlies always use the latest v-ray. You can either use the latest v-ray nightly if you have access, or use v-ray 2.4 to run the latest phoenix nightly, until v-ray 3.05.05 is put up on the website.

I've finally tested that on new nightlies.
                              Below is the result:

                              It' looks good.
Are there any plans to set physical properties like wetting for certain meshes (not global)?
