  • Flying Foam

    Hello,
I was following your Ship Tutorial step by step and run into a little Problem. At the End you set the falling Speed up to 5 Meters, so that the Particles are not flying around in the air. I did this aswell and when I'm doing a low res Simulation it works. But when I use a high Grid resolution the particles start to fly in the air again. So I increased the falling speed to a very high Number, but the Particles are still flying around. My ship length is about 30 meters. What am I doing wrong? Looking forward to your answer.

    Sincerely,
    Christian Heynert

if you are using nightly, this may be the cause, the foam simulation may be affected by a recently works over some bugs.

there is a sample file with ship in the ocean, is it producing the same foam behavior?

When I'm simulating the sample file the foam sticks to the ground and doesn't fly around. So am I using wrong settings somewhere?

it can be the b2b interaction, as i remember in our sample it is 200 in your scene is 3000. when foam is born indirectly by the splash, it can appear that few foam particles are simultaneously created very near to each other. the b2b interaction pushes them away and when they can be accelerated significantly.

I changed the b2b interaction to 200 and simulated again, but the Foam is still flying around

the only other parameter that differs from the original scene is the pattern strength, try to simulate with zero strength just for the test. if this removes the instability simulate with strength 1, the value of the original scene.
