  • Rogue explosion within fluid simulation

    Hi,

I am doing this standard ship sim, just like the demoscene.

At some point there is a massive impact at some place - no idea where this increase massive velocity is coming from ( a few frames later the scene is swamped with particles).

Any suggestion how to avoid this rogue phenomena ... or did I just discover antimatter ?

this is instability, can you share some details about the build, is it official or nightly, and if is nightly, on which date is downloaded.

      Hi Ivaylo

The built says: Version 2.2.0 Revision 24510

By the way: The sim also shows rogue splashes at the corners of the simulator and froze in its simulation overnight - the CPU was fully busy, but nothing happened any more.

Edit: And rendering also produces errors (s.attach)Click image for larger version

well, this is the official build, you are the first one reporting instability problems with such a scenes. anyway, the front small waves are indication for low spf value, you have to increase it. perhaps your scene has bigger ship velocity or bigger resolution compared to the demo scene, the bigger velocity or resolution require bigger spf. unfortunately the spf increase slows down the simulation, you can try to download nightly build and to use flip solver, it is less spf sensitive.
the side splash birth is usually indication for too low birth threshold, as i see in the first image your value is 1, this is too low, use value let say 30 and increase the birth rate in order to achieve the needed particle production.

Ok, will adapt the scene, thanks ! The resolution is rather low 16 Mio. Cells.

Do you have any thoughts on the error I mentioned that freezes the rendering?

The scene is standard just like in the tutorial.

seems like a bug in the mesher, if the bug is reproducible, you can send us a cache file and simplified scene to test it. you can delete all the extra geometry to make the file smaller.
it's very probably that the bug is already fixed and if you download nightly build it will not appear.

I will try a new built, ok? But it might be in two weeks, I am abroad from today. Will maybe come back to you.

              Thanks for the support!

                Ivaylo,
I installed today's nightly built. Unfortunately now the particles don't get rendered at all. The buckets get 100% stuck as soon as they meet the first splashes. I even resimulated and reassigned new shader objects to make sure no "old" data is persistent.

Any idea where this is coming from?

I can send you the scene, should be mini ...

ok, send me the scene and one cache file if possible.

Tashko received it, but I did not attach any cache file ... can do that when I am back (1 week).
