  • sim still seems to bunch at edges ?

    hi,
had something similar on a water sim but this time it`s smoke. the sim seems to bunch near the edges of the simbox. it`s an elliptical plane emitter so i`d expect a more elliptical spread ? but after a while it forms more straight edges. i presume it`s clumping near the box edge or not ? attached an image.
it`s a fairly low res sim, but with displacement.Click image for larger version

it was made from a smoke preset and toned down so it goes out rather than up.

    thanks

Svetlin mentioned that there's definitely an issue with wave force reflecting and that he's pushing those errors up the to do list.

        Hey,

To me it seems the cause of this one is different - if you are using adaptive grid, you need to give it more extra margin in order for the smoke to be able to roll better, otherwise the velocity currents will constantly hit the edge of the simulation and will straighten the shape of the smoke along with the box. I'd suggest a bigger Extra Margin in the Grid panel and lower Threshold for the adaptive grid. Also, you could try more Conservation Quality just in case, but only if it's not already higher than 50-60 - this will definitely help the rolling.

        Cheers!
