Right off the bat I'll say I'm a Phoenix novice and having to use it for the first time without having gone through the complete learning process of creating a simulation simply because I am having to pick up this project from someone else (who has since left working with me).
Our project is a ship in the sea.
The previous Visualiser used Phoenix to create a sea / wave simulation (a single still image) for a render that was created at 2560x1440pixels (I don't know if that's important).
That scene renders out at 2560px no problem - I've done that and it works.
But I need to re-render the scene at 5000px longest edge.
Do I need to recreate the simulation for that new render resolution ?
My computer has 64Gb of ram, when I render, the scene, my computer bombs out of 3DS Max during the Embree stage of rendering (task manager shows Physical Memory getting gobbled up during the Embree stage of rendering and down to around 4gb before 3DS Max simply vanishes off the screen and disappears from "Services" etc in Task Manager).
If I uncheck Embree, the render at 5000px happens but does render correctly, i.e. I get only some geometry rendered (out at 5000px) and the rest of the image is black......
I don't understand enough about Phoenix at this stage, but am wondering what could be the problem and indeed do I need to re-create the Phoenix Simulation for this new, larger resolution ? Or can I use the already created simulation that was done at 2560 ?
Any answers would be gratefully received (as soon as possible please ).
Many thanks.
PS - Phoenix 3.0 and V-Ray 3.40.03, 3DS Max 2017.
