  • Small cubic artifacts with volume inject and volume brush emission modes

    Hi,

so I've been fighting these small cube artifacts in my ink simulations. They get very obvious on some frames:

They happen only with volume inject and volume brush emission modes, so I thought they are just limitation of the methods. Using surface force does not really work, because it completely kills the character and detail of the simulation for some reason.

The thing is, though, that I lately discovered they are actually bigger than the grid size, a lot bigger, even if I make my grid super fine, they still do not look like grid voxels, but more like 3*3*3 clusters of the grid voxels. I am approaching a state where my grid voxel size is basically as small as a pixel on the rendered frame, yet they still show up like this. And it seems more as if emission was accidentally skipping some of the grid voxels.

Can't really say without the scene. Could you send it over to support?

    Thanks!

Yes, I will do. The one I sent a few days ago did not even give me download confirmation yet, so hopefully this one will get through.

Just in case - even with a latest nightly and with disabled Phoenix Light Cache does it still look this way?

Oh, nope, sorry, forgot to mention, I am using 3.00.01 because of that bug in 3.00.02 and newer, which breaks all my sims. The one that I sent the previous scene because of.

Oh, right! Because of the turbulence thing. Can you try to render this with a latest nightly just for the test then?

Also, regarding the turbulence, did you say changing the strength and size did not affect the sim at all? Is the kind of setup you are running like in the screenshot - just drag particles? If this is the case, please try adding 'velocity' to the affected channels list and see if changing the turbulence parameters would start affecting the sim again.

            Cheers!
