  • deforming and animated watert mesh + Sim

    hello,

I would like to make something like this houdini tutorial but with phoenix
    https://vimeo.com/242040220

There is any way to have an animated mesh full of particules like in Houdini ?
I try with Initial liquid fill + body force but it's very slow and unpredictable.

    Hey,

Can you show us the results you have so far and your settings?

    Thanks!

      Hi Svetlin,
In the zip file the sim of the 16 frame. you see the water inside the mesh is not trying to stay inside even with body force with high strenght.
You also can find the 3DSMAX file

      thanks for your help

        Hi,

there's something which disrupts the normal function of the Body Force. Maybe it's some modifier. I made another scene with box geometry converted to editable poly and animated with Bend modifier. It looks like it works pretty good with it. Converting your geometry to Editable poly does not solve the problem but exporting it as .obj file and importing it back again seems to work. You could try exporting it as alembic too. I hope this hints to navigate you working around this problem until we fix it.

          Hi George,

          Thanks you for helping me.

I will build my scene again and if it's not work i will export the mesh as alembic like you suggest .

          Have a nice day

            Hello Phoenix FD Team.

So .. it's not working like expected. I don't know what i'm doing wrong.

Because what i want do do it's a flower like object made of water, i need more than only one box.
But i have to use multiple body forces. 1 for each part of the flower because this is different mesh.
Like i was thinking, each body force try to attract all the particle. This make all the system inefficient. the liquid don't know where to go and stay equaly at the middle of all this forces.

So, because i need a multipart object, but i can use only 1 body force, i work on a a single mesh with morph modifier to animate it.
            Bodyforce seems to not work.
So i export my object as alembic .
I use the alembic file and it's not working to. looks like body force not update the liquide/mesh relationship.

Maybe i will need to use particules flow to create this effect, but i really want to beeint able to make it 100% with phoenix if it's possible.

              Hey,

If you want multiple forces to affect multiple bodies, please make sure to limit the Max Distance of each force You can also make it easier to understand how the forces will affect your geometry by using the Force Preview.

Please try these with the simple geometry and meanwhile I'll check what's the issue with the liquid not filling complex geometry but working with simple geometry.

              Cheers!

                Hi,

I'm sending you a new scene with 4 geometries and 4 body forces attached to them with limited Max Distance parameter to 1 - therefore they do not interact each other. Please, check the Force preview option in Preview roll-out. Add the forces there, disable mesh preview and enable this option for visualizing exactly what's going on.

Hey again - there was an issue indeed when using many modifiers on a geometry - in this case, the transformation of the geometry in 3ds Max was not correctly read by the Body Force. Here is how it looks in the force preview:

This will be fixed in tomorrow's nightlies an you'll be able to continue with your work

                  Thanks for helping find this!

Thanks you Svetlin and George !

I don't find the force checkbox in the preview rollout. Do i need to enable somthing before ?
