  • Foam and Splash as Matte Object ?

    Hi Guys,

Not sure if I totally missed something or what but here's my problems, I checked and didn't found any answer for that.

I'm rendering an infinite ocean simulation where a huge rocks is hitting the water, creating foam and splash.
I need to render this simulation, no problem, but also this simulation as a matte object and here is my problem, the ocean no problem but the foam and splash impossible to have it as a matte object.
I tried to use right click on the PHXFoam and vray properties matte object not working, I tried with the v-ray Mtl wrapper not working, so I just tried to assign a basic vray material one the splash and foam, not working. Even if I use the Render as geometry in the PHXFoam shader.

There is no way to assign a classic v-ray shader on splash and foam without using the PHXFoam shader ? How I can have this splash/foam as a matte object in my renders ?

Thanks a lot and sorry for my English not my mother tongue I hope it's understandable.

I would assume this is because the secondaries are atmospherics by default. What if you try in geometry mode?

      Hi,

Already try checking the checkbox Render as geometry for v-ray.

Hey - this is yet to be implemented - for now only multimatte works in 'render as geometry' mode.

            Hi,
Ok good to know thanks Svetlin Nikolov, I'll try with the multimatte.
            Thanks a lot.

I hope we'll be able to implement matte not long from now.

              Cheers!

For now I'm able to use the multi matte it works for what I'm doing, it's just that I have to render two times because my main render I don't use the geometry mode for the foam and splash. But it's not a problem, but yeah matte object will be nice
