  • last nightly I installed is crashing like a pig!

    Hi,

I am catching up with PHX after a while...
Could there be a stable folder in the nightlies like VRay has?
I dunno which version I can use since the latest I downloaded is crashing like hell...
I am also using VRay Next so I need a PHX that can render...

BTW, is VRay Next GPU going to be able to render PHX particle shader ?

Oh, please do send any scene that crashes. For all I know, today's nightly passes all our test scenes, so as far as we can tell, it's stable - if it still crashes on your scene, we definitely have to take a look and fix it.

Some important stuff that happened during the last few weeks was that we made a breaking change to the AUR format - a latest Phoenix should be able to read caches from an old one, but an old Phoenix won't be able to read new caches. There was about a week of stabilization though, so if you were using a nightly from the last two weeks, please try to simulate all your caches again just in case.

Regarding GPU - we need to finish the fire/smoke rendering first and the we'll be on to the Particle Shader. It will be in Some future V-Ray, but definitely not the one coming up

Btw, a very important question - are you using a Phoenix nightly for vray 3 or vray 4 and which version of V-Ray do you have installed?

Another very important note - make sure you don't use the "_install.zip" nightlies.

          Using max 2018, VRay 4.01.03.28031, PHX 3.05.03.2018021128031
          Crashing randomly after frame 30.

You can rewind back to a nightly from 02 Feb or older - this is where the problem first occurred.
