  • Discharge modifiers not working when using nParticles as source

I was wanting to limit the discharge to a certain height of the sim box with the position y discharge modifier. it works fine when normal geometry is the source, but when i switch to nparticles as the source none of the modifiers seem to work..

Hi there. When you work in Gird Space the Y and Z axes for Position/Normal/Velocity are swapped.

More information about modifiers you can find here:

Thanks guys. I did a test just to see if the discharge modifiers were working at all with the nparticles, and even setting the ramp to 0 didn't turn off the discharge like it should. And I tested that on the speed and position modifiers with no luck.

Huh, can you send over a scene we can check? You are using Phoenix 3.10, right?

Sure thing, here's just a quick test scene to prove the point. the discharge modifier will work if you swap the emission from the nparticles to the sphere. And we are using v3.04

Oh, you definitely have to upgrade to the latest Phoenix version. nParticle support before 3.05 was very bad and in 3.10 there were a number of important fixes as well.

              Cheers!
