One - vray volume grid wont display phoenix sims

Two - new phoenix 3.1 keeps error on render blades says its missing .dlr

    Hello,

Can you give us a little bit more details on how the caches are not displayed? Is it just a preview issue or the caches are not renderable as well? What version of Phoenix did you use to generate them?

As for the errors - can you try and download the builds again from our site or get a latest nightly build - this should resolve the issue.

Thanks for the response I will re download the newest files for install. The cache will both not display or render. The phoenix cache will not display in the vray volume grid. using new phoenix FD 3.1 old caches from 3.01 work fine in new vray 3.604 volume grid

          Hi,

In version 3.1 (and in nightly builds since the end of January) Phoenix FD has upgraded the version of the .aur files, so older builds of both V-Ray and Phoenix FD won't be able to open cache files generated by the newest version. It would be best if you load your cache files as simulators instead of volume grids and render them as such.
Please note that rendering does not take up a Phoenix license, so you can install Phoenix FD on you renders slaves without having to purchase additional licenses.

Regarding the Phoenix's .dlr not loading - as explained in the topic announcing the new version, there was a problem with the initially uploaded builds, so downloading and installing them again, as Georgi suggests, will fix that.

We have fixed the .drl issue thanks

I am running the newest vray 3.604 and phoenix 3.1. Not worried about the render blades we have that issue solved. My problem is that the vray volume grids let us hand off files to other departments and it keeps our licence free to do more work(We only have 2 ). The older phoenix caches still load fine it is only 3.1 cahce that doesn't work. Do i need to upgrade to a newer vray?

              Hey,

Since V-Ray 3.6 is still using the old loader, it won't be able to read caches from the newer Phoenix. We'll talk with the V-Ray guys about integrating this into the 3.6 code, but it would take some time. Will ping you when I know more.

              Cheers!

Btw, you can export VDBs from Phoenix and load them in the VolumeGrid as a workaround until then.

Yup, talked with the V-Ray guys and there will be more V-Ray 3 versions coming out, but until then we will integrate the new loader into the V-Ray stable nightlies. Are you okay with using one of these?

Yes I am fine with that. My only issue is when I go to the nightlies page I only get the blender vray options, and phoenix v2.00 options. Is there any way to update that page, or a direct link. Also is there a way to to get phoenix 3.05 download, we were using 3.03. Where would i find the export to VDB option?

You can check this thread on how to get access to the nightlies - https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...nightly-builds

For the vdb export - just change the file extension in the output rollout to .vdb instead of .aur

Alternatively you can use our cache converter - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...oenix+FD+Tools

Unfortunately my nightlies page only shows up blender vray, and phoenix 2.0
